who

Claire Warner (nee Hughes) has worked in the field of Fundraising since 1997. Prior to a freelance career as a Consultant and Freelance Fundraiser, Claire held in-house fundraising roles at Imperial War Museum North, Opera North and the HalléWhilst a pupil at Chethams School of Music, Claire decided that life as a professional musician wasn’t for her. Having not identified a replacement career choice, Claire undertook a BA Honours degree in Business Studies at the University of Humberside.

On graduating in 1997, Claire secured a role in the Halle’s Development Department. There, she discovered a passion and flair for asking people for money and hasn’t looked back since!

In 2003, following the successful completion of the Capital Appeal to build and open Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, Claire decided to leave full time employment and chose instead to work freelance on a number of different projects. Since then her work has been varied, encompassing not only the Arts but also Caring charities and Sport clubs and associations.

Chris Hughes (Claire’s Mum) joined Claire on an increasingly part-time basis towards the end of 2005, Since then, working as a formidable mother and daughter team, Claire and Chris have worked on and are working on contracts with some well known and some relatively unknow organisations from across the region.

Chris tends to concentrate on research, contact-making and administration based behind the scenes while Claire does the customer/client facing active fundraising as well as Consultancy work. They make an effective well-balanced team. The majority of their work is undertaken in their Bolton office with regular travel both locally and around the country.
